In 2021, Soft Lightning is publishing its first artist monograph. We are in the preliminary stages of development so the Artist and title are to be announced in the coming months. Soft Lightning is artist run and is not financially backed with any capital by any person or institution. In lieu of a GoFundMe or Kickstarter, Soft Lightning is selling zines in order to gain funds to produce its first artist monograph.

The price of this zine is sliding scale. Any price paid beyond the base price is greatly appreciated as the goal is to get enough funds to make the artist monograph a work of art in and of itself.

Haus of Mess Drag-A-Zine is a combination of drag portraiture and show photographs by Soft Lightning founder, Julie Rae Powers. Haus of Mess is a drag family located in Columbus, Ohio consisting of Matriarch, Butch Lite, Gilda Wabbit, Evelyn Nikole Mess, Edna Mwah and Mercy Mwah. The Haus of Mess use to host a monthly show titled “Haus of Mess Presents:” where local, regional, and national performers were invited to showcase their talent at Club 20 on Duncan Street prior to the pandemic. These images are from 2018-early 2020.
